Vegetable carbon black is an insoluble coloring agent, typically used as a suspension. It is mainly used in candies as a masking agent. Also known as: Vegetable Black, Vegetable Carbon, Carbon Black, Edible Carbon Black, Natural Black Pigment. Characteristics: Black powdered particles, odorless, tasteless, insoluble in water and organic solvents. Production: Made from plant stems and shells through carbonization. Uses: Baked goods, cereals and grain products, dairy products, sugar and confectionery, and food decorations.

Effects and Uses

Applications

Pigment, food processing aid, adsorbent; according to China's “Hygienic Standards for Food Additives” (GB2760-1996), it can be used in candies, biscuits, pastries, rice, and flour products, with a maximum usage of 5.0 g/kg. Practical reference: For making licorice candy, use 4% of carbon black (30% concentration) to make black candy; in chocolate biscuits, use this product and red pepper color, with a 4% addition based on the flour amount.

Storage Conditions: Keep sealed and protected from light, avoid high temperatures, store in a dry, cool, well-ventilated place
